For more information regarding state mandated exams, contact Dr. David Westmoreland, Director of Student Services and District Test Coordinator, at 501-450-4800. * Homebound Services: The Conway Homebound Instruction Program is designed to provide continuity of educational services between the classroom and home setting for students whose medical needs, both physical and psychiatric, make school attendance inadvisable. The inability to attend school must be certified by a physician, licensed clinical psychologist or psychiatrist. The Homebound Instruction Program will facilitate academic progress and a student's return to the classroom setting as soon as medically indicated. To apply for Homebound Instructional Services, contact Dr. David Westmoreland, 501-450-4800. * Homeless Services: The Conway School District will afford the same services and educational opportunities to homeless children as are afforded to non-homeless children. Students who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence and are sharing the housing of other persons due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason; are living in motels, hotels, trailer parks, or camping grounds due to the lack of alternative adequate accommodations; are living in emergency or transitional shelters; are abandoned in hospitals; or are awaiting foster care placement are considered homeless. Moreover, students who have a primary nighttime residence that is a public or private place not designed for or ordinarily used as a regular sleeping accommodation for human being, or are living in cars, parks, public spaces, abandoned buildings, substandard housing, bus or train stations, or similar settings; and are migratory children are considered homeless. Parents /legal guardians may provide a home school for their own children. There are no educational requirements for parents/guardians who provide a home school for their child(ren). Parents/legal guardians are required to utilize printed, current-year forms that are available from each local school district superintendent’s office. Parents /legal guardians should complete the Notice of Intent to Home School and Waiver forms at the beginning of each school year but no later than August 15; or, subject to the requirements of state law if filing after August 15 or December 15, and return completed, signed forms to the superintendent of the local public school district. Notice of Intent to Home School forms submitted after the deadlines are subject to a fourteen (14)-calendar day waiting period that the superintendent controls.
